Board of DirectorsVision & GovernanceBeyond Compliance benefits from the wisdom and guidance of an outstanding Board of Directors, which assists us in attaining our vision and complements the strengths of the BCI executive team. Our Board keeps us focused on our planning priority: How can we best accomplish what we need to do in order to help our clients succeed? Through an active and on-going strategic planning process, our Board is helping us develop our long range vision and define long-range goals. The Board of Directors is comprised of three external directors and two internal directors, who each bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and vision to the governance of Beyond Compliance.
Evan Hu (External Director) – Co-founder and CEO of Ideaca Knowledge Services With more than 20 years of experience in the creation and management of successful businesses, Mr. Hu has a proven track record in growing and mentoring successful professionals. As co-founder and CEO of Ideaca, a Canadian technology solutions firm with offices in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver, he provides vision, strategic direction and leadership. His experience cuts across numerous industries, including telecommunications, high technology, utilities and energy. Prior to Ideaca, Mr. Hu was a founding partner and co-CEO of OmniLogic, an ERP integration consultancy that, in 8 years, grew to 600 employees in offices across Canada with $100 million in annual revenues. OmniLogic was acquired by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where Mr. Hu continued as the partner responsible for North American ERP e-Commerce initiatives and e-Business strategies. Mr. Hu is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering from the University of Alberta.
Dirk McDermott (External Director) – Founder and Managing Partner of Altira Group LLC Altira Group LLC is a Denver-based venture capital firm focused exclusively on equity investments in companies that develop and commercialize technology for the energy industry. Mr. McDermott has more than twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur, investor, manager and scientist within the energy sector. He holds a MBA and a Master of Science in Geophysics from Stanford University. Mr. McDermott currently serves on the Petroleum Investment Committee at Stanford University. He has served on the boards of directors of a number of Altira portfolio companies including Canyon Offshore, Inc., RC Squared, Inc., Coherence Technology Company, Inc., Beyond Compliance Inc., Tubel Technologies Inc., DeepFlex Inc. and TransZap, Inc.
Donald J. Nelson (External Director) – President of Fairway Resources Inc. Mr. Nelson is a Professional Engineer and has over thirty years of oil and gas experience including corporate management, engineering and operations with exposure to various size companies. He was most recently with Summit Resources Limited from July 1996 until its acquisition by Paramount Resources Ltd. In June 2002, where he held the position of Vice President, Operations from July 1996 to September 1998 and President and Chief Executive Officer from September 1998 to June 2002. Mr. Nelson is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and of the Society of Petroleum
Hugh A. Fergusson (External Director) – Corporate Director, President of Argyle Resources Inc. Hugh Fergusson is an executive with over 30 years diversified experience including marketing, purchasing, Government relations, legal and executive management in the petrochemical and energy value chains. Since retiring from Dow Chemical Canada Inc. in 2004 as Vice-President of Hydrocarbons and Energy, he has acted as an energy consultant in North America and the Middle East and as a corporate director for a number of public and private organizations. Mr. Fergusson has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from McMaster University and the University of Windsor respectively. In 2006 he was awarded the designation of ICD.D by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Ron Visser (Internal Director) – Co-founder and CEO of Beyond Compliance Ron is a co-founder of Beyond Compliance. As CEO, Ron is responsible for the overall direction of the company and he directs all new software and product development in support of market opportunities. He has over 15 years of experience in assisting oil and gas corporations with environmental and operational compliance in Western Canada – both as a regulatory and environmental consultant and as an inspector for the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (AEUB). In addition to his regulatory and environmental experience, Ron is also certified through the Canadian Standards Association as an internal ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 auditor, and has developed QA/QC protocols for manufacturing processes. |
